- Our star is named Aldebaran
- It is a red giant
- From Detroit you can see it in the sky from the middle of April to the beginning of October mostly in the western part of the sky
- It is in the Taurus Constellation
- The star has 44.2 times the diameter of our sun
- The Hipparco's satellite has measured it at 65.1 light years away
- It has moved off of the main sequence of the HR diagram
- It varies in apparent magnitude from 0.75 to 0.95. It's temperature is 3910k
- An interesting bit of information about it is that the Romans called it Palilicium
- Aldebaran is the 14th brightest star that we know of
